Cardiology
The Department of Cardiology at KMC offers specialised cardiac care through a blend of clinical expertise and advanced technology. The department includes experienced cardiologists who use modern diagnostic and treatment approaches to manage heart diseases effectively. With a strong emphasis on precision-based practice and multidisciplinary collaboration, the department ensures improved clinical decision-making and quality patient care throughout the treatment journey.
Why Choose Our Cardiology Department?
Our cardiac experts handle complex heart conditions across all age groups including congenital heart disease, coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disorders, heart failure, and valvular diseases. The department is supported by a team of skilled echocardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, radiologists, and cardiovascular surgeons dedicated to providing advanced cardiac care and training.
Treatment & Procedures
TMT - Treadmill Test
TMT, also known as a stress test, evaluates how well the heart performs under physical stress. It helps determine whether the heart is receiving enough blood during exertion.
Echocardiogram
An echocardiogram is a non-invasive ultrasound test that creates detailed images of the heart using 2D, 3D, and Doppler imaging without radiation.
Coronary Angiogram
This imaging test detects blockages in coronary arteries using X-ray technology. A catheter is inserted through the groin or hand to assess blood flow to the heart.
Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery (CABG)
Commonly known as bypass surgery, this procedure restores blood flow by diverting it around blocked arteries using vessels from other parts of the body.
ECG (Electrocardiogram)
A simple and non-invasive test that records the electrical activity and rhythm of the heart.
Holter Monitoring
A portable device that continuously records heart rhythms over 24–48 hours to detect irregularities.
Coronary Angioplasty
A minimally invasive procedure used to open blocked arteries using a balloon and stent to improve blood flow.
Emergency Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)
A life-saving procedure performed during heart attacks to restore blood flow quickly by combining angioplasty and stenting.
Cardiac Device Implantation
Devices such as pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) help regulate abnormal heart rhythms.
Open Heart Surgery
A major surgical procedure where the chest is opened to perform complex heart operations.
Paediatric Cardiology
Specialised care for diagnosing and treating heart conditions in infants and children.
Electrophysiological Radiofrequency Ablation
A procedure used to treat arrhythmias by correcting abnormal electrical signals in the heart.
Structural Heart Interventions (TAVI)
Minimally invasive procedures such as Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation to treat valve diseases.
Balloon Valvotomy Procedures
Includes mitral, pulmonary, and aortic valve dilation techniques to treat narrowed valves with minimal invasion.
Congenital Heart Disease Treatments
Includes VSD closure, PDA device closure, and other corrective procedures for birth-related heart defects.
Comprehensive Cardiac Services
The department provides a wide range of services including coronary angiography, angioplasty, emergency PCI, complex coronary interventions, electrophysiology procedures, structural heart disease treatments, cardiac device implantation, and advanced imaging techniques such as IVUS and OCT.
Paediatric cardiac services include fetal echocardiography, congenital defect diagnosis, interventional procedures, and counselling for parents to ensure early detection and better outcomes.
